secure instant messaging appliance
IMBOX can be deployed to deliver an Instant Messaging service either in a totally secure closed system, or in an open system that allows communication with users of public IM services.
Public IM services were not designed with security in mind and have a number of vulnerabilities to hacking, Trojans and viruses, theft of identity and denial-of-service attacks.
With IMBOX deployed in an open system, users are not exposed to the same risks. IMBOX continues to offer highly enhanced security, via the inherent protection of the appliance format, the deployment of Linux, the ApplianSys client with its small footprint and SSL encryption, the blocking of messages from people not accepted by users onto their buddy lists, and by disallowing file transfers.
Maximising an inherently secure topology, the IMBOX provides all the benefits of Instant Messaging in an appliance format: simple, cost-effective, hassle-free and reliable. It operates on private networks behind the firewall, accessed by authorised users only, so you’re not exposing your systems to attack. The server appliance format makes it inherently secure, but ApplianSys has enhanced security through IPsec tunnelling, 128-bit SSL encryption and PAM authentication. The browser-based admin interface makes it easy to manage, and the intuitive client makes it easy to use. Based on Jabber, the technology behind the IMBOX is proven and stable.
