CACHEBOX is a hardened Linux based appliance optimized for performance, robustness, security and ease of management.
The custom Linux OS has been developed by ApplianSys specifically for creating secure appliances. Our approach of building from the ground up with only the applications we want has been refined over several years and is employed across our full appliance range.
Administration of the devices takes place via a secure SSL web interface which supports simultaneous login from multiple administrators. The interface provides easy access to product features, including the ability to apply updates. SSH access can be enabled for power users familiar with Linux.
An on-box adaptive firewall allows granular control of traffic passing through CACHEBOX whilst ensuring that unused ports are automatically locked down. Back-up facilities are provided to automatically copy log files off-box to other file servers using a number of popular transfer protocols.
Whilst cached objects and log files are stored on hard disk, core operating system files and configuration are held on read-only industrial class CompactFlash. In the unlikely event of hard disk failure, the system can reinitialize without loss of key data.
