We’ve built the world’s best DHCP server
ApplianSys is pleased to announce the launch of a major upgrade to its DHCP appliance which addresses network managers growing needs for high availability, full-featured on-site server.
Beyond the smallest LANs, where the basic DHCP functionality of a simple router is OK, the majority of networks in the world continue to use either Windows Server or ISC’s DHCPd. Now, with ever-growing networks and greater need for high availability, Network Managers are finding these are no longer fit for purpose. They need more….
- Priority 1: Failover that actually works
- Priority 2: A professional-grade UI that simplifies management
- Priority 3: An on-site server that isn’t dependent on their internet connection – typically driven by a migration from on-prem Windows Server to MS Azure
For decades ApplianSys’ DNSBOX family has eliminated DDI (DNS, DHCP & IP Address Management) headaches, simplified day-to-day management routines and delivered high availability DNS and DHCP. User feedback has always rated the DHCP functionality on DNSBOX’s “remote server” appliance highly, compared with alternatives. But we knew that area of the product had not had as much attention as other parts recently, and felt we could do better.
So in 2021, having seen enquiries about DHCP solutions continuing to grow, and aware of the dissatisfaction with the solutions out there, we decided to re-build the DNSBOX family’s DHCP solution from the ground up. Our target was to build indisputably the world’s best DHCP server. Informed by expert customer insight every step of the way, that’s what we’ve done.
Addressing Network Managers’ top priority, the DNSBOX family DHCP server makes it easy to deploy a failover unit for redundancy. Failover pairs share configuration, ensuring that they never ‘disagree’ about the network – they dynamically share available addresses, and information about current leases.
In stark contrast to the interfaces used on network devices that offer rudimentary DHCP, DNSBOX’s professional user interface speeds up common tasks and makes complex configuration, like Dynamic DNS, straightforward.
- We’ve developed templates and wizards for the most common use cases to make DNSBOX the quickest, easiest DHCP server you’ll ever deploy.
- Pared back navigation and dynamic workflows put the fields you need in-front of you, removing unnecessary clutter
- Templating couldn’t be easier, streamlining workflows and allowing junior administrators to safely make changes
“I’ve worked with a lot of DHCP appliances, this is by far the easiest by far I’ve ever dealt with. I love the fact the UI is not nested, I’m not having to go six layers deep and then back myself up 2 layers to make sure it worked. It has been a pleasure working with this device and how resilient it is.”
Anthony Grande, Senior Systems Administrator, Phoenix Suns
As a hardware appliance, DNSBOX bucks the industry dogma that “everything should be in the cloud”. DHCP (and for that matter, DNS) is one service that absolutely belongs on site – it’s too critical to leave at the mercy of an internet connection and introduce extra latency. The appliance approach also simplifies deployment and keeps costs to a minimum.
Having evaluated the final product in detail, expert customers confirm that this new major release of the DNSBOX DHCP server is the full-featured, failover-ready solution that Network Managers have been looking for.
