Vidrio keeps DNS feet on the ground
ApplianSys is pleased to announce that Vidrio Financial, an investment management company in New York, has chosen a DNSBOX solution to ensure reliable DNS for its new cloud-based environment.
As part of a network overhaul for Vidrio’s NYC headquarters, Systems Administrator Mauro Lana elected to reduce the operational costs of the company’s physical infrastructure by moving to cloud-based servers.
Despite migrating most services and infrastructure to the cloud, Mauro knew that cloud-based DNS risked network latency – leading to poor web browsing experience. So he decided to keep just the DNS service running on a physical server.
However, with Microsoft authentication and record-hosting moving to the Cloud, Mauro sought to replace the existing Windows solution. There was no need to keep a feature-bloated service that was not designed for just fast, reliable DNS.
He searched online for a dedicated DNS solution and was pleased to find DNSBOX200’s recursive DNS option offered an affordable, fit for purpose alternative.
DNSBOX Product Manager, Magdalena Jovanovic says: “DNSBOX is a great fit for Vidrio Financial. DNSBOX200’s modular design allows it to run authoritative and recursive (cache) DNS as separate services on the same physical server. So within the cost of a single physical server, Vidrio can securely host DNS for their internal Active Directory zone, as well as serving recursive DNS for everything else.”
Founded in 2011, Vidrio Financial provides institutional investors with web-based investment management software solutions. It has headquarters in New York and offices in Italy and Bermuda.
