ApplianSys announced today the release of the latest addition to the CACHEBOX range: the new high performance CACHEBOX420 .

CACHEBOX420 is designed to handle heavier caching workloads in ISPs, enterprises and large schools environments. It can serve over 1.5 Gbps of traffic and includes 3 SSDs and 5 HDDs in a 2U chassis.

“Networks around the world are under continuous pressure to support ever more bandwidth-intensive content – video, social media and software updates. CACHEBOX420 helps them to meet this need at a sensible price,” comments Roger Clark, CACHEBOX Head of Sales.

CACHEBOX420 can handle up to 6000 HTTP requests per second, supporting over 10,000 users per appliance. It has 3 solid state disks for serving small files and 4 hard disks to store larger files, such as videos. A 5th HDD is used for logging and other server functionality ensuring the other disks are dedicated to caching.

CACHEBOX420 can be clustered alongside other CACHEBOX units, including smaller, models such as CACHEBOX230. This allows customers to deploy large caches in the network core to save bandwidth and smaller caches closer to users to eliminate latency and speed up access to content,” says Roger.
