Albania schools CACHEBOX-enabled

ApplianSys is pleased to announce that the largest systems integrator in Albania, Infosoft Systems, has bought a CACHEBOX solution to provide internet to sixty schools in the country.

Each school connects to the internet over a 4Mpbs ADSL link. Albania’s Ministry of Education (MoE) expected that large video and multimedia files would cause congestion on such small links. They recognised the need to reduce the load placed on connections and launched a public tender which included a caching solution. The specifications to be met included the ability to handle 200 concurrent users at each school, easy scalability and central management.

Project Manager at Infosoft Systems, Arsen Kurti, was responsible for ensuring that the specifications of this tender were met. Having searched online for possible caching solutions, he contacted CACHEBOX Sales Executive, Ross Parker, to discuss his options.

“I was pleased to see that CACHEBOX met all the requirements of the tender, being designed specifically for school environments. ApplianSys understood the parameters of our project and CACHEBOX is easily scalable and very affordable.”

The Systems Integrator bought a CACHEBOX050 for each of the schools and a Central Management Console (CACHEBOXCMC).

The CACHEBOXCMC has made it easy to manage such a large fleet of CACHEBOXes from a central place. “Our technical team can quickly perform batch configurations, bulk administrative tasks and get aggregated reporting all from a single browser. This hugely reduces the administrative workload and makes monitoring efficient,” says Arsen.

“This tender pilots a broader initiative by the Albanian MoE to provision internet in schools across the whole country. CACHEBOX is specifically designed to facilitate large scale rollouts such as this, and we look forward to working with Infosoft in the near future to deliver the advantages of online learning to more students,” comments Ross.
