CACHEBOX/DNSBOX combo for Uganda

ApplianSys today announced that the Medical Research Council (MRC) is using both DNSBOX and CACHEBOX as part of a plan to upgrade its IT network in Uganda. The solution is supported by Computer Facilities, a local systems integrator.

MRC Uganda wanted to use its internet bandwidth more effectively because of the high cost of access in Uganda. Computer Facilities recommended moving to a new ISP and upgrading the network infrastructure. It incorporated DNSBOX, for faster local name resolution, and CACHEBOX, to optimize bandwidth use, as part of the proposal and predicts a reduction in load of up to 40%, with potential savings of $4-5000 per month on bandwidth charges.
