ApplianSys is pleased to announce that Unicom Somalia, a newly established Wireless ISP in Puntland, Somalia has purchased a CACHEBOX100 to improve user experience.

With a focus on business customers, hotels and schools, Unicom provides internet access via VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) connections. These satellite links enable the ISP to reach customers in remote areas where there are no alternatives such as fibre optic connections.

“The almost limitless geographic reach of satellites come at a high financial cost so Unicom need to maximise their use of bandwidth”, explains CACHEBOX Sales Executive Vasco Figueiredo. “Caching will help Unicom to maintain customer satisfaction by offering faster web content to customers who have subscribed to low capacity connections. By deploying a cache, they can also add more users to their network without upgrading their expensive VSAT connection.”
