DNSBOX prescribed for LatAm #1

ApplianSys is pleased to announce that Farmacias Similares (FS), the largest low-cost pharmacy chain in Latin America, has chosen DNSBOX to deliver the much-improved DNS and DHCP services it needs.

Since it opened its first store in 1997, FS’s mission to provide affordable medicine for people of all income has proven a great success. Growth has been phenomenal. Now with almost 7,000 stores and franchises across the region, its central support offices in Mexico needed a DDI service to match.

However, reliance on Microsoft Active Directory (AD) servers to handle both DNS for 6,000 users and DHCP for 1,000 company devices was risking overload. Network Manager Victor Campos knew that the resulting latency and slow speeds for end-users would impact the network’s quality of service.

Wanting a solution that would separate both DHCP and DNS services, Victor evaluated an Infoblox solution, but found it to be particularly expensive and over-specified for FS’s specific need.

In DNSBOX, he found a fully modular appliance that offers flexibility with a reasonable price. Impressed by the capabilities on offer at unbeatable value, FS decided to include IP address management (IPAM), as well as failover protection for guaranteeing network uptime in its chosen end solution. With migration of the old AD DNS and DHCP service data also supported, Victor confidently ordered the full scope DNSBOX solution.
