CACHEBOX on top of the world

January 06, 2022

ApplianSys is pleased to announce that Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation Government have purchased a CACHEBOX, making them the most northernly CACHEBOX users in the world.

At only 67°North, Old Crow is inside the Arctic Circle and is the only community located in the northern Yukon Territory. It can only be reached by plane or river, making the internet an essential means of communication for its 300 residents.

With only a small DSL connection for internet, browsing was painfully slow and frequently congested by software updates.

Network service provider Tangerine Technologies had seen the difference that CACHEBOX’s bandwidth boosting and speed increase capacities made to other First Nations. They recommended that Vunut Gwitchin Government purchase a CACHEBOX to relieve congestion from software updates and increase browser speed.

“We are delighted that CACHEBOX will help another community, without having to wait for an expensive bandwidth update” stated Dave Gravell, Business Development Director. “When compared to the cost of upgrading DSL or satellite connections, CACHEBOX’s return on investment can be counted in days or weeks, not years”.

Vuntut Gwitchin of the North Yukon takes boundless pride in their ancient cultural heritage and ancestral homelands. They exercise their inherent right to self-government, to take the responsibility for the general welfare of their citizens, and to provide for the good government of their communities, lands and resources.
