Mirroring and pre-caching

Mirroring
Given a URL, CACHEBOX will visit each link it finds and download content. It then serves this content via its built in web server.

Various options let you control how often it checks for changes on the original site and refreshes its local copy, as well as deciding how deep it should go when following links and limiting the amount of data it downloads.

To take advantage of lower prices for ‘off-peak’ internet access it’s possible to set the time of day mirror jobs take place. If you have an ‘always-on’ connection mirroring content at night will have less impact on your service quality because of fewer users on the network.

To help you schedule jobs effectively, CACHEBOX produces graphical reports showing usage statistics on a daily basis.

mirroring and pre-caching

Pre-caching
For connections where bandwidth usage is unlimited, pre-caching can reduce delays and increase user satisfaction at no extra cost.

Pre-caching works in the same way as mirroring, except that connections are made through the cache as opposed to being downloaded and served.  If you know that users will be checking certain websites when they come in the morning, then you can refresh objects in the cache before the first user visits the website.

Pre-caching on CACHEBOX gives you many of the same options to control how content is downloaded, including scheduling, link depth and download limits.
