Northamptonshire County Council speed rural web access with CACHEBOX

By ApplianSys , October 31, 2006

Northamptonshire County Council has ordered seven CACHEBOX200’s through Capita ICT, ApplianSys announced today.  The CACHEBOXes will help schools in rural areas improve internet access over their existing ADSL lines.

“Schools have access to numerous libraries of high quality, video rich teaching resources.  However, as many of these rely on broadband access at the school, the user experience for those on slower connections can be disappointing,” explains Dave Gravell – Business Development Director at ApplianSys. “CACHEBOX enhances the experience for students, delivering faster internet response times and effectively doubling available bandwidth by storing content locally.”

Northamptonshire County Council (www.northamptonshire.gov.uk) provides a variety of services to 630,000+ inhabitants of Northamptonshire.  The council employs more than 19,000 staff to provide public services for the area.
