Faster web: Maldives relaxes

ApplianSys is pleased to announce that the luxury Dusit Thani Maldives resort has bought a CACHEBOX solution to ensure its guests get quick and easy access to the internet.

Situated on the remote Mudhdhoo Island, the hotel has a 40 Mbps line shared between its four sites. This internet link supports up to 500 users at a time.

Technical Manager at Dusit, Vishnu Ghimire, was afraid of the impact an increasingly congested link would have on the hotel’s services: “Most of the content requested by our guests is heavy with videos and software updates.  As a result we started receiving complaints about slow browsing times.  Fast internet is part of the service we offer to our guests and we simply cannot afford to risk such complaints.”

The hotel wanted to avoid upgrading its existing link, which was a very costly option, especially due to its remote location.

Having looked at several solutions online, Vishnu decided that CACHEBOX210 was ideal for alleviating bandwidth congestion in the hotel’s link. By storing videos and other large in the cache the first time these were requested, the internet link will be freed up to allow other traffic to pass through. This means hotel guests will be able to access files much faster, and get the service they expect.
